Membership agreement

Membership agreement

By becoming a member of Columbia Gadget Works (“CGW”) I agree to the following, in addition to the liability waiver, which I have also signed.

  1. Membership and dues. My membership runs month to month while my dues are paid. Dues are billed through Givebutter at the level I chose, and I can cancel at any time; cancelling ends my membership at the end of the period already paid. Dues are not refunded for partial months, and are not tax-deductible to the extent I receive access in return. If my dues stop, my access and storage end after the grace period CGW tells me about.

  2. Access and my credential. My door credential (fob, code or key) is for me alone. I will not lend it, copy it, share a code, or let anyone in who is not a member or my guest. I will tell CGW at once if it is lost. When I leave the shop last, I will make sure equipment is off, doors are locked and the lights are out.

  3. Training before use. I will use only the tools I have been trained and signed off on where training is required, and I will follow each tool’s rules and the instructions of the zone lead. Being a member does not by itself let me use every tool.

  4. Safety and care. I will follow the posted shop rules and the code of conduct, wear appropriate protective equipment, clean up after myself, and leave tools and benches ready for the next person. I will report damage, broken or unsafe equipment, and injuries right away. I am responsible for damage I cause through misuse or carelessness.

  5. Guests. I may bring guests when the rules allow it. Every guest signs the liability waiver before using anything. I stay with my guests and I am responsible for what they do. Guests do not use machines that need training.

  6. Storage and materials. I keep my projects and materials only in the space assigned to me. Items left elsewhere, or left after my membership ends, may be removed or disposed of after notice. I will not bring hazardous materials into the shop without the zone lead’s approval. Shop materials are for reasonable use; I bring my own for large jobs.

  7. Conduct. I treat everyone with respect, in the shop, on Discord and at events, as the code of conduct describes. I do not use the shop for anything illegal, and I do not run a commercial business from the shop without the board’s approval.

  8. Suspension and ending membership. The board may suspend or end my membership and access for unsafe behavior, violations of this agreement or the code of conduct, or unpaid dues, following the process in the bylaws.

  9. My information. CGW keeps my contact details, signed documents, training records and dues status to run the shop, as its privacy policy describes, and shares them only with the volunteers who need them.

  10. Changes. CGW may update these rules. I will be told of changes, and may be asked to sign a new version to keep my membership.

I have read this agreement and I agree to it.
